The Lashes Raises Over £20,000 For Southampton Hospitals Charity

The Ageas Bowl hosted the return of The Lashes Charity Lunch last week to raise money to support the construction of a state-of-the-art intensive care unit at University Hospital Southampton

The Lashes Charity Lunch returned to The Ageas Bowl last week - for the first time since 2019 - and the fundraising extravaganza helped raise over £20,000 to support the construction of a specialist rehabilitation space at University Hospital Southampton.

Our fabuLASH ladies - over 200 convened in Hilton at The Ageas Bowl's grand ballroom for the fundraising lunch - enjoyed a prosecco drink reception as they browsed a selection of pop-up shops, including The Ageas Bowl's very own eforea spa, and a variety of health, beauty and fashion boutiques from around Hampshire. Pop-ups included Bradbeers of Romsey, Charlotte Tilbury and Moon Kult Kitchen, among others.

After taking in the vast selection of pop-ups, the ladies made their way into the Ageas Ballroom, decorated to the nines with generous donations from Ballooning Brilliant, Party Delights, Event Kings and Angel Floss. Our guests were greeted by The Ageas Bowl favourite, Michael Kurn, who returned as the event host, with special guests Colin Phillips, and Jason Burrill in attendance along with a surprise act from Bobby Davro!

Along with a bespoke, curated lunch from Executive Chef Jamie, the guests also enjoyed games, dancing, music and a surprise ending of singing waiters, ready to get the party atmosphere going before the Lashes moved up to Lakeview for the afterparty!

The event was hosted in aid of The Ageas Bowl's charity, Hampshire Cricket Foundation, which has partnered with Southampton Hospitals Charity, to help raise much-needed funds to help build a new rehabilitation space within the GICU at University Hospital Southampton.

It was fantastic to see the return of The Lashes Lunch to The Ageas Bowl. The sell-out event is always a popular occasion and it was great to see so many of our guests donate so generously to support what is a vital cause.

We're really proud to be able to support fundraising efforts for Southampton Hospitals Charity and give something back. We look forward to continuing our fundraising for Southampton Hospitals Charity throughout 2022.

David Mann, CEO of The Ageas Bowl

Following several fundraising games, raffles, a silent auction and a grand live auction, the generosity of our guests meant The Lashes raised over £20,000 for the charity. This money will directly help those in our community, who are fighting severe life-threatening conditions. Your donations matter to help University Hospital Southampton give their sickest patients the world-class care they deserve.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on how we were able to deliver rehabilitative care but the facility Hampshire Cricket and The Ageas Bowl are fundraising for will make a massive difference to the quality of treatment we're able to offer patients and their families.

This will be a world-class facility and will have a significant impact on the local community; it's fair to say that this wouldn't have gone this far without the commitment from Hampshire Cricket and The Ageas Bowl and this partnership which we're so proud of.

Dr Max Jonas, University Hospital Southampton
