Vince To Skip IPL Auction To Focus On New Domestic Season
James Vince has elected not to enter this year's IPL auction to focus on Hampshire's 2021 domestic campaign
Hampshire captain James Vince has confirmed he will not be entering the 2021 IPL auction in order to focus on the start of the new domestic season.
Vince, who attracted interest from several suitors following a successful winter overseas, made the decision to ensure he will be available for the start of Hampshire’s 2021 campaign.
The Hampshrie skipper enjoyed an outstanding winter in Australia as part of a Sydney Sixers side who claimed a second consecutive Big Bash League title earlier this month, finishing as the tournament's second highest run-scorer.
He was instrumental to the Sixers’ success, particularly in the knockout stages where his 98* sealed a Final berth before a stunning 95 in the curtain-closer propelled saw the side to back-to-back triumphs.
The right-hander is currently in Pakistan ahead of the start of the 2021 Pakistan Super League where he will represent Multan Sultans.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, Vince will return to the UK to continue his pre-season preparations.
I’ve had an exciting winter and really enjoyed my time again with Sydney Sixers – to win the BBL Trophy at the SCG with such a special group again was a fantastic experience.
Following the competition, there had been interest in my availability for this year’s IPL, and although the prospect of entering the auction was something that I gave consideration to, I have decided to focus my attention solely on Hampshire and I'm looking forward to leading the side during an important first phase of the season.
