Vipers Quartet Selected For England Women's Pathway Squad

Charlie Dean, Ellen Burt, Katie George and Linsey Smith have all been included in a 14 strong squad

Four Southern Vipers players have been selected in the latest Women's Pathway squads announced this week.

The Vipers' Ellen Burt and Linsey Smith, and Hampshire and Vipers duo Katie George and Charlie Dean were all named as part of England Women's Senior Academy which is in place to enhace the skills of players to ensure they are equipped to perform for England in the future.

The quartet are part of a group of 14 players who will be exposed to high quality coaching and will experience domestic and international environments aimed at helping their game move forward.

The group has been trimmed from 18 last year to 14 this time round, with three players progressing to the EWSA having been a part of the EWA last year and nine changes in personnel overall.

Charlie Dean, Izzy Cloke and Lauren Bell have made the transition from the EWA after impressing over the summer and they will join a squad with several players looking to push on to international honours in the near future.

We are excited by the players and the coaching team we have working with this group and following on from their initial camp in Desert Springs the younger players will be working towards a tri-series with Australia and South Africa next year.

Jonathan Finch, Women's High Performance Manager

Both the EWSA and EWA will be overseen by Head Coach of the EWSA John Stanworth, supported by a team of coaches who will deliver across all levels of the England pathway.

Tom Smith and Gareth Breese will assist Stanworth in the day-to-day coaching requirements of the two programmes with various specialist coaches utilised throughout the winter to enhance the opportunities for players to develop.
