September's Player of The Month

Hampshire have ony played two games in the month of September thus far, with one left to play.

Firstly, they welcomed Northamptonshire to The Ageas Bowl in the LV= Insurance County Championship. With the rain affecting how much play could take place, Hampshire were still able to complete a dramatic innings victory, while taking the maximum 24 points.

However, the visit of Kent was not as successful. Even after a resilient final day effort with the bat, Hampshire were beaten by 77 runs.

Our overseas bowler, Mohammad Abbas, has been electric with the ball this month. He has picked up a total of 12 wickets - at an average of just 14.83 across his four spells - including two four wicket hauls.

James Fuller has had a sensational season already and he looks to be finishing with a bang. The all-rounder has taken seven wickets - which included that last minute winner against Northamptonshire - and, after an impressive 78* in the last innings against Kent, has scored 105 runs while only getting out once.

South African Kyle Abbott is the current leading wicket taker in Division One of the County Championship with 58 and nine of those have come this month, with a four-fer apiece in each game. Furthermore, he has added vital runs at the bottom of the order - the best of which being his 57 not out to take the team to 400 in their first innings against Northamptonshire.

The third member of Hampshire's dangerous bowling trio, Kieth Barker, has also had another stellar month with nine wickets to his name at an econmy rate of just 2.32. He is currently joint-second for wickets taken in Division One with 52.

Aneurin Donald has deservedly earned plenty of plaudits for his performances this month. As well as scoring 110 runs - mostly thanks to his knock of 94 against Northamptonshire - he has deputised for the injured Ben Brown with the gloves, taking nine catches across the two games.

23-year-old Felix Organ has been a consistent run scorer as the opening batter this season and has continued to impress this month. His score of 71 was his best so far in September where he has racked up a total of 118 at an average of 39.33.
