Scott Currie is a right-arm bowler and right-hand batter.
He was born in Poole, Dorset and is a product of Hampshire’s impressive youth system.
A promising young seamer, Currie grew up as a dual sport athlete and featured for Portsmouth FC’s Academy as a junior, before turning his sole attention to cricket.
After impressing as part of Hampshire Academy, Currie made the seamless transition to the Second in 2019, helping Hampshire win the Second XI Championship for the first time since 2001.
His development continued during the winter as he received an England U19 call-up for their winter series, making an impact which also led to selection for the side’s World Cup campaign.
Armed with fresh experience on the international stage and with the COVID-19 pandemic impacting the season schedule in 2020, the right-armer made his full First-Class and T20 debuts last summer, impressing during both competitions.
Currie claimed three wickets on his first-class debut against Kent, whilst also picking up a scalp in his four Vitality Blast appearances.
Red ball opportunities were limited for Currie in 2021 but the 20-year-old was crucial for Hampshire in the run to finals day in the Vitality Blast. 19 wickets in nine matches for the tall seamer, including a career best 4-24 against Somerset in July.
Currie also featured during the Royal London One Day Cup campaign, taking a further six wickets in five apperances.
In the winter of 2021, Currie was awarded a three year contract extension with the club, keeping him at The Ageas Bowl till at least the end of the 2024 season.
