Carla Rudd

Wicket-Keeper

Carla Rudd has been an ever-present member of the Southern Vipers since the Kia Super League in 2016.

Born on 30th December 1993 in Hastings, Rudd began her career at her native Sussex before a loan spell to Middlesex in 2010, followed by a permanent move to Berkshire in 2011.

She balanced her cricket with Berkshire alongside the role of Head of Girls’ Cricket at Felsted School in Essex which she started in 2015, and after two years in the job, the school’s U15 girls’ XI won the School Sport Magazine National Schools U15 Girls’ Cricket Cup.

In 2019, Felsted’s U18 girls came out victorious in the Girls’ U18 National 100-Ball Cup, as Rudd re-joined her home county of Sussex.

Rudd made her Vipers debut in July 2016 against Surrey Stars and was part of the side that won the KSL in the same year, and scored 23 runs but took seven catches and completed 17 stumpings across the four years.

Seven dismissals in a shortened 2020 season earned her the title of joint second most dismissals for a wicket keeper in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, along with 81 runs over the seven matches.

In 2021, Rudd was at the top of the keeping list again, with ten dismissals in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

Like many of her Southern Vipers teammates, Rudd represents Southern Brave in the Hundred, and in the first year of the competition, she played all nine matches and took ten dismissals, and followed it up with five dismissals in eight matches for the Brave in 2022.

She is one of the most experienced players in the Vipers, with 192 matches under her belt – a third of which have been in orange and black.

In 2022, Rudd took five catches and two stumpings in the Charlotte Edwards Cup as she featured in all seven matches, along with a further seven dismissals in four RHF Trophy games.

In September of 2022, Rudd left her role at Felsted School to become Director of Sport at The Leys School in Cambridge.
