Only 70 minutes of play was possible as the weather brought the day to another premature end having only allowed 15 overs on day one.

Having resumed on 50-3 the fourth-wicket combination took their side to 90 without further loss by the time the rain started falling just after mid-day.
Form Kent bowler Matt Coles was introduced into the attack with Darren Stevens but Katich and Dawson were up to the task, both finding the boundary during what little play was possible.
The rain got progressively harder into the afternoon and the day was officially abandoned around 2:45; a decision taken around many grounds on the county circuit.
