ECB T20 Knock-Out

Shenley
Hampshire enjoyed differing fortunes in their two opening T20 Knock-Out matches against the Marylebone Cricket Club Young Cricketers [MCC YCs] at Shenley.
An emphatic win was followed by a loss but, promisingly, good individual performances came from a number of players on the fringes of the First XI.
Match One Summary: Hampshire beat MCC YCs by 64 runs
Hampshire Second XI: 203-4
MCC YCs: 139-8
A belligerent knock of 115 (including 12 sixes) from Aussie import Glenn Maxwell propelled Hampshire’s Seconds to victory in the first match as they coasted home by 64 runs.
Incredibly, Maxwell hammered his century off just 31 deliveries as Hants posted a formidable 203-4.
Hamza Riazuddin provided excellent support with 60 not out and then returned figures of 2-32 as the MCC closed on 139-8 from their 20 overs, falling well short of the strong total that Hampshire had posted.
21 year-old attacking off-spinner Oli Makin also chipped in with figures of 3-21.
Match Two Summary: MCC YCs beat Hampshire by five wickets
Hampshire Second XI: 147-6
MCC YCs: 150-5
However, in the second match a fluent innings of 80 from Bilal Shafayat wasn’t enough for his side to “do the double” as the MCC chased down a decent total with five wickets intact.
Having set a target of 147-6 the hosts chased it down with relative ease.
The good news is that fast bowler, David Griffiths returned figures of 2-25 from his spell. And he was well supported by fellow paceman, Matt King who took 3-24.
