Women & Girls Easter Update

A busy Easter Holidays for the Hampshire Women & Girls community

Officiating

Aimee Aikenhead & Lucia Hill, 2 of our VC’s who are currently taking the ACO Stage 3 umpiring course, were invited to umpire at the Regional Academy Festival over the Easter holidays at Millfield School. Held over 3 days, the girls umpired a variety of formats and were the youngest umpires officiating and performed exceptionally well. Thanks to Jon Leckie and HACO for supporting the girls in what was a huge honour for Hampshire.

10 Vipers Champions and young female cricketers qualified as ACO Stage 3 umpires over the Easter break, a fantastic achievement. These young officials will be honing their craft at various matches over the summer

Indatwa

6 girls from Hampshire Indatwa were part of the Rwanda Women’s team that won the Nigeria Invitational Tournament just before Easter. Not only that, but Indatwa players scooped best batter, best bowler and best fielder for the whole tournament. This is a huge first for Rwanda Women and it’s exciting to see our girls developing into such talented players

Coaching

This week 12 new women and girls qualified as Foundation 1 coaches. 6 Elite & Academy Vipers Champions plus 6 ladies from Hampshire clubs will be putting their new found coaching skills into practice this summer and supporting the women and girls’ game in Hampshire.

Wellbeing

Breathe – our new ‘Breathe – supporting young female cricketers’ workshop was held on Saturday morning , with over 30 RPC & VC players in attendance. Designed by players and coaches, in conjunction with a Clinical Psychologist from Great Ormond Street Hospital, the workshop aims to give players the skills they need to navigate their cricket/life/school balance and hurdles they will have to overcome both in cricket and life

RPC – the final RPC winter training sessions took place yesterday, with 186 girls from the 4 RPC squads enjoying the glorious sunshine and the opportunity to train outside.
