Buckinghamshire v Berkshire – High Wycombe

Berkshire claimed a close victory as they crossed the border into Buckinghamshire.

The visitors batted first and racked up a solid total off 253-4, with all top four batters passing the 30 mark.

Berks’ captain Ashleigh Muttitt went on to pass fifty in 79 balls, as Holly Rider (40), Abigail Avery (41), and Poppy Tulloch (39) all got close to reaching their own half-centuries.

Wickets were shared around the Bucks bowlers, with Natasha MacBean, Hannah Francis, Molly Carter and Isabella James all picking up a wicket each.

The home side then struggled at the start, as they lost both openers with the score on 7-2.

Amelia Pack and Cara Duggan then put on 48 for the third wicket, before the former was lbw to Kali-Ann Docherty for 21.

Duggan and new batter Sarah Barber then put on 50 before captain Duggan was bowled by Poppy Tulloch for 35.

Barber top scored with 39 but wickets kept falling for the home side, as all the Berkshire bowlers had a mark in the wickets column, and Buckinghamshire were bowled out for 218 with 4.2 overs to spare, Berkshire taking the win by 35 runs.

Hampshire v Dorset – St Cross CC, Winchester

Hampshire secured victory by eight wickets over Dorset to win the inaugural South Central Counties Cup by 15 points.

Dorset batted first and were bowled out for 154 in the final of their 50 overs, with Manta Kothiyal top scoring with 47 off 42, with S Mathews next best with 32.

Spinner Eve O’Neill, was the pick of the Hampshire bowlers, taking 3-16 off ten overs, including two maidens, with Gemma Lane (2-34), Talitha Stanley (2-23), Caitie Croft (2-26), and PJ Watkins (1-33) also picking up wickets.

Southern Vipers batter, and Hampshire captain, Ella Chandler, set about chasing the Dorset total down despite the loss of her opening partner Ashneet Chahal for 15.

The right hander scored 83* at just under a run-a-ball, and she reached fifty off 58 balls in the 22nd over, with the Hants hundred coming up a ball later.

Sophie Mitchelmore took 35 runs off the target before she was bowled by K Harris, and wicket keeper Ariana Dowse was 7* as Hampshire sealed victory with 21 overs to spare.

Sussex v Oxfordshire – Blackstone

Sussex came out on top in a low scoring thriller at Blackstone.

Batting first, the home side scrapped their way to 139 all out in 34 overs, with Millie Taylor the only batter to pass 30.

Two run outs started off the innings, before Finty Trussler was once again in the wickets, with 3-16 off nine overs, as Chloe Westbury (2-20), Georgia Haworth (1-22) and Emilia Bartram (1-33) also added to their wickets tally.

Oxfordshire got off to a better start, but once again, wickets were a regular occurrence, as opener Megan Jones was the only batter to pass 30.

With the score on 90-2, Oxfordshire had victory in their sights, but Sussex captain Chiara Green stood up and made the crucial breakthrough of Jones for 37, before picking up the wickets of Aimee Diab and Isobel Kirby, with Emily Spooner taking the wicket of Genny Porter, and Oxfordshire had lost four wickets for nine runs.

A partnership of 23 for the ninth wicket between Abi Currie and Lottie Oxton put the visitors to within ten runs of victory, but Millie Taylor picked off both of them, and Sussex had won by six runs, with 12.5 overs remaining in the innings.
