Three Southern Vipers Picked Up In The Hundred Draft

Three Vipers were picked up by various franchises in the inaugural Women’s Hundred Draft

Three Southern Vipers stars were picked up in the first-ever women’s Hundred Draft.

Opening batter Danni Wyatt remains at Southern Brave after the team used their Right To Match (RTM) card after Welsh Fire picked the England batter after their opening pick of Sophie Devine was matched by Birmingham Phoenix.

In 2022, Wyatt scored 177 runs for Southern Brave at a strike rate of 136.15 and picked up two wickets with her off spin.

Southern Brave’s captain and Vipers player-coach Anya Shrubsole remains at The Ageas Bowl for another season as she was picked up in the £25,000 bracket.

The former England international picked up six wickets in the 2022 edition of The Hundred, and only conceded 6.45 runs per five balls.

All-rounder Georgia Elwiss was also drafted and will cross the border into Wales after Birmingham Phoenix already used their RTM.

The Vipers' centurion from 2022 scored 52 runs and took six wickets for the Phoenix in last year's Hundred.

The women’s Hundred squads now go into the open market stage of squad building, where they will directly approach players to play for them, signing seven players to add to their rosters.

Several Southern Vipers were retained by their 2022 franchises, including Maia Bouchier (Southern Brave), Charlie Dean (London Spirit), and Linsey Smith (Northern Superchargers).
