LV= Insurance County Championship

130 years of county rivalry in one competition. The LV= County Championship is for cricket's connoisseurs as 18 first-class counties contest in first-class cricket, the 'traditional' county four-day format.

Hampshire have won two County Championships in the past and notched a near-miss from their recent 2021 campaign, where their final fixture saw them only one wicket away from claiming the title for the third time.


2021 Fixtures

Hampshire played five Group Stage matches at The Ageas Bowl between April and July in the LV= Insurance County Championship, finishing second in their group, meaning that the club progressed to Division One for the latter stages of the competition.

Four Division matches were contested across August and September, which started with a thrilling a thrilling draw against Yorkshire (highlights), before Hampshire travelled to Edgbaston and triumphed in an important away win against Warwickshire (highlights), before continuing the momentum into their home fixture against Nottinghamshire (highlights) which finished as a comprehensive victory to James Vince's side within three days.

Hampshire finished their 2021 campaign in a nail-biting draw away against Lancashire (highlights), only one wicket away from securing the title.

Pakistan seamer Mohammad Abbas was added to the squad for the start and end of Hampshire's LV= Insurance County Championship campaign, as well as ICC World Test Championship winner, Colin De Grandhomme hailing from New Zealand, also joined for a stint within the red ball competition too.

Following the easing of government COVID-19 restrictions, all 2021 Hampshire Cricket Members enjoyed access to Hampshire's home LV= Insurance County Championship fixtures as part of their Membership.


2022 Fixtures

In 2022, the LV= Insurance County Championship will see 10 counties in Division One and eight in Division Two with a two-up, two-down promotion-and-relegation system. Each county will play 14 LV= Insurance County Championship matches.

Hampshire will be joined by Essex, Gloucestershire, Kent, Lancashire, Northamptonshire, Somerset, Surrey, Warwickshire and Yorkshire in Division One in 2022.
