A bit of Glenn Maxwell magic with both bat and ball saw Hampshire to a six wicket victory over the Kent Spitfires with ten balls to spare in this Friends Life t20 game at Canterbury.
Relied on to provide some of his off-spin in the absence of Danny Briggs (who was at Trent Bridge for England's Twenty20 International against the West Indies, but didn't play) the Australian bowled two overs, took two wickets and conceeded just 10 runs as the Royals limited their opponents to 135 from their full compiment of overs (Captain, Dimi Mascarenhas (2-14 off four overs) also recorded notable figures).
And, in reply, Hampshire's overseas smashed a huge SIX sixes and five fours off 32 balls on the way to an unbeaten 66. Added to a solid start from Jimmy Adams (31), it meant the Royals chased down their target with relative comfort to record their first victory of the campaign
The result takes Hampshire off the bottom of the table and they now travel to Richmond to take on the only team below them - Middlesex - on Wednesday.
