Girls' Emerging Player Programme (EPP)
In 2012, a brand new Girls-Only Emerging Player Programme (EPP) was launched with the aim of providing the best players across the County Squads between the ages of 12 – 16 with high quality 1-to-1 coaching.
The programme was funded by Hampshire County Council and, initially, provides funding for two years, with the view to extending this based on obtaining future funding.
Ian Stuart [pictured, above right with England Women's Captain Charlotte Edwards (far left) and Girls' EPP student Emily Windsor (centre)] is the Head Coach leading the Girls' EPP and he has a wealth of experience from working for ICC Europe, being one of the lead tutors for Hampshire Coach Education Programme and having his own company called Coaching for Greater Understanding. In Hampshire, he has worked alongside a number of clubs including Sparsholt and Easton & Martyr Worthy to improve their Coaching set up.
The aims of the programme are:
- To develop players who have the capability to play England age-group cricket.
- To develop players to one day represent the full England side.
- To enhance the performance of County Age Group teams which will in turn improve the performance of the Hampshire Senior Ladies team.
In total, six players were selected to go onto the Programme for 2012-2013. These are Providence Cowdrill from Cove Cricket Club, Katie George from Romsey & OT’s CC, Martha Bilsland from Alton CC, Emily Windsor from Havant CC, Gemma Harper from Hursley Park CC and Leanne Davies from Eversley CC.
