Hampshire’s Liam Dawson Signs New Deal

The all-rounder has extended his stay at The Ageas Bowl until at least the end of the 2025 season

Hampshire Cricket all-rounder Liam Dawson has signed a new contract with the Club and will remain at The Ageas Bowl until at least the end of the 2025 season.

Dawson is a product of Hampshire’s pathway system and made his First XI debut against Northamptonshire in 2007, aged just 17.

I’m delighted – it’s always great when you sign a new contract.

I’ve been at Hampshire since I was ten-years-old and, having come through the age groups, I can use my experience to help others make the step up into First XI cricket.

We’ve tasted a lot of success – including last year’s Vitality Blast – and I’m hungry to bring even more silverware to The Ageas Bowl.

Since then, he has become a vital part of the Hampshire squad, making 428 appearances across all formats and helping the Club to seven pieces of silverware – including the 2022 Vitality Blast trophy.

The all-rounder’s contributions have also seen him recognised on the international stage, as he has represented England at Test, ODI and IT20 level. He was part of the the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup winning squad and travelled to Australia as a reserve for the side that won the ICC T20 World Cup.

2022 was another successful season for Dawson as he recorded First-Class career bests with both bat and ball in the County Championship – a 171 against Kent and match figures of 10-139 against Essex.

Liam has grown up here and has shown a genuine desire to win trophies for this Club.

He’s an intelligent player with the ability to influence games across the formats with both bat and ball.

We are delighted he has agreed to extend his stay and we hope to see him in a Hampshire shirt for years to come.

In the Vitality Blast, Dawson again showed his class by taking regular wickets and keeping the run rate down, racking up 20 wickets at an average of just 20.50 – which played an integral part in bringing a third T20 title back to The Ageas Bowl.

The best way to see Liam and the rest of the current Vitality Blast champions, Hampshire Hawks, in T20 action in 2023 is with a Super Early Bird Vitality Blast Passport.
