Perform at The Ageas Bowl are pleased to be able to offer a Sports & Exercise Medicine Consultancy service.

Our Sports & Medicine Consultants can treat people of all ages and levels of physical activity, whilst understanding the impact an injury can have on your everyday life and as such, aim to see and diagnose your injury promptly.

Our consultants possess a wealth of expertise, treating both elite and recreational athletes and are experienced in working with professional sports including England Cricket, Premiership Rugby and Premiership Football, Great Britain Hockey, Judo, Canoeing, Rowing, Synchronized Swimming, Professional Golf, Gymnastics and Professional Ballet.

Our Sports Medicine Physicians work in collaboration with a highly skilled team of specialist Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Nutritionists and Sports Tissue Therapists to facilitate a multi-disciplinary approach to your care. Our goal is to return you to physical activities as quickly and safely as possible.

As well as injury management, our Consultants are experienced in the management of medical conditions affecting active and healthy people of all ages.

Specialist treatments include -

·         Rapid Access Diagnostic Ultrasound, MRI and CT Imaging

·         Ultrasound Guided Injections – including Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Prolotherapy and Steroid Injections

·         Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)

·         Compartment Pressure Testing

·         Intra Muscular Stimulation (IMS)

·         Podiatric and Biomechanical Assessments

What happens at your first appointment?

Your initial assessment will be conducted by one of our Sport & Exercise Medicine Consultants who can then co-ordinate your ongoing investigation (if indicated) and management by either themselves or allied professionals. They work closely with a variety of other specialists including:

·         Physiotherapy

·         Podiatry

·         Radiology

·         Surgery (Orthopaedic or General)

·         Nutrition

·         Psychology

We provide on-site access to musculo-skeletal ultrasound during the consultation to aid in both diagnosis and management.

Our SEM consultants have considerable experience in the management of illness relating to exercise (including chronic disease) and injuries to all joints (including the back), muscle and soft tissue, including tendons and ligaments.

Our overall ethos is to get you seen and return you to your normal activities as soon as possible, having had the most up-to-date treatment available by specialists within their field of expertise.
