Course DETAILs
ECBACO Level 1 Cricket Umpire Course
This course is 12–16 hours duration and consists of six modules designed for those who intend to umpire regularly, or those that wish to acquire a better knowledge of the laws of cricket. Aside from covering the key laws in detail, it also deals with the basic techniques of match management. No prior knowledge is required.
A variety of venues are available. Courses can be completed over a 2 day weekend period or a 3 day midweek period. Successful completion of the course and passing of the final examination will enable the candidate to be awarded a Level 1 Cricket Umpire’s certificate from ECBACO.
The course costs £90 which includes:
-
all the Course Paperwork
-
Tom Smith's Cricket Umpiring and Scoring
-
MCC Blue Law Book
-
DBS (formerly CRB) check
Additionally Tea/Coffee/Squash/Biscuits will be available free of charge although candidates should bring along their own packed lunch.
ECBACO Level 1A Cricket Umpire Training Course
This course involves lots of integrated activity during the day and is really enjoyable. It is the next stage in an Umpires Pathway and essential for those wishing to progress to Premier League (Top Division) umpiring and beyond.
There will be approximately 2 hours of preparatory "homework" before the course and then those who have their portfolio up to date and have completed a minimum of 10 matches will be required to have a Professional Discussion (PD) with 2 Assessors. PDs are programmed for Sunday 30th November 2014 (at the Ageas Bowl) and will take approx one hour for each candidate. If your portfolio is not ready then we can arrange a PD at a later date or after next season. The course costs £60.
ECBACO Level 2 Cricket Umpire Training Course
This course is both classroom and practical based and is the ideal course for those who wish to enhance their umpiring knowledge and credibility.
You must be Level 1A qualified to attend the Level 2 Course. If you obtained your qualifications under the ACU&S then GL5 equates to Level 1A
The cost of the Level 2 Course is set by ECBACO at £150. This covers ALL the course administration and paperwork, Tutor Fees, Observation Costs x 2 and Professional Discussion Costs which represents very good value for money.
Alternatively there is an option to undertake what is termed a Level 2C (County) course. This runs alongside the Level 2 Course on the same dates BUT candidates who complete the 2 days do not have to have any Observations or a Professional Discussion and are therefore awarded a Level 2C Certificate for attending the course. This option costs £100.
In real terms the better option is the Level 2 all embracing course especially if you wish to progress up the umpiring ladder initially with Regional Appointments at the higher level.
