England v Australia 2015 ODI

Arguably the fiercest rivalry in world cricket returns to the Ageas Bowl on Thursday 3rd September when England face Australia in a day-night Royal London One-Day Cup match.

The day-night game is the opening fixture of the five-match series between the two sides with the Ashes Test Series still likely to be fresh in the memory for both teams.

All-rounder Shane Watson hit an incredible 143 off just 107 balls the last time these two sides met at the home of Hampshire Cricket. Ravi Bopra replied with an eye-catching 62 in the middle order, but it wasn’t enough as the tourists finished the match winners by 49 runs.

The tourists are likely to be full of familiar faces when they face England in 2015 with former Hampshire trio Michael Clarke, Shane Watson and George Bailey all likely to feature. Explosive 2014 Hants overseas player Glenn Maxwell could also play.

Australia’s One-Day International honours are impressive, having won the 50-Over World Cup on four occasions and the Champions Trophy twice. It certainly compares favourably to England’s four runners-up finishes across the two tournaments.
